"A Body Without a Soul Cannot Endure": Sheikh Eşref Efendi Calls for a New Era of Spiritual Diplomacy at "United in Liberty" Conference
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Speaking at the United in Liberty: The Rise of Spiritual Diplomats International Interfaith Conference, Sheikh Eşref Efendi delivered a transformative address on the future of global peace. Hosted by Pastor Marc Burns, spiritual advisor to President Donald J. Trump, the conference served as a historic meeting point for political influence and divine wisdom.
In his remarks, the Sheikh challenged the traditional view of geopolitics, asserting that true peace does not originate from military power or strategic force, but is a "divine trust" granted by the Creator. "Politics without spirituality remains incomplete," the Sheikh stated. "A body without a soul cannot endure."
The address marked a pivotal moment in interfaith dialogue, calling for an "Alliance of Believers" to stand united before the world. Sheikh Eşref Efendi emphasized that the convergence of faith and governance at the center of global power is not a coincidence, but a mandate for responsible leadership.
Therefore, we must clearly proclaim this understanding to the world: We are the Rabbāniyyūn—those sincerely devoted to God (swt).
We call upon the political leaders and rulers of all nations and peoples: Just as „In God We Trust“ is inscribed on the currency of this nation, let these words be emblazoned upon the United Nations building.
We, the representatives of our respective religions, must consistently adhere to the golden rules and the divine code to combat extremism within our own traditions.
In Islam, for instance, it is decreed:
„Whoever kills a soul… it is as if he had slain mankind entirely.“
In Judaism, it is written:
„You shall not murder. You shall not covet ….“
In Christianity, it is clear:
„Love your neighbor as yourself.“
We call for the establishment of a „House of the Believers“ within the United Nations. A place where religious and spiritual authorities from across the
world can gather as one community. They would participate as the spiritual voice of humanity, alongside political leaders, in deciding the future of humankind.
For freedom of belief to exist, religious communities must unite sincerely and care for one another. Within our own circles, we are Buddhists, Jews, Christians,
Muslims, and Indigenous Peoples. But in public, we must not define ourselves primarily by these affiliations. Among ourselves, we may identify by these names,
but before the world, we must appear as a united alliance of believers. In public, labels like Judaism, Christianity, and Islam can separate and estrange us. This must not continue.
