“Dying before death!”
Sufism is an ancient path that leads to self-knowledge and higher consciousness. Since the dawn of humanity, everyone has been searching for the meaning of existence: Who am I? Why am I here? What is my purpose in this world? Why is there suffering and misery? How can I achieve infinite happiness? It is a fundamental human need to discover who we are and what our calling is.
Sufism provides answers to all these questions. All the masters who have come and, in their search for themselves, have realized that they originate from the primordial source of creation, the basis of all existence, the One and Only. The teachings of the Sufi masters, which have been passed down from generation to generation, describe the path that leads inward, the dangers that lurk along the way, and the pitfalls to watch out for. They are people like you and me, and yet there is one difference: they have walked the path and attained mastery.
The aspirant entrusts himself to this master, the so-called sheikh. He guides the student through the deepest levels of his being, through a dark tunnel, as it were, out into the light of self-knowledge. "I have died a thousand deaths," as the wise saying goes. The Sufi also dies; he learns to let go of everything that hinders him on the path to consciousness. All selfish desires and needs, all beliefs and ideologies that are obstructive, make way for the power of light and truth. Through this process of dying and awakening, the sincere seeker is guided by the hand of the master.
The Golden Chain
The honorable Naqshbandi Sufi path is a school of the spirit and a practice that supports truth above all else.
The name of the Naqshbandi Order has changed from century to century. At the time of Shah Naqshband, it was called "Naqshbandiya." Naqsh means the perfect engraving of the name of God on the heart of the seeker. And today it is known as "Naqshbandiya-Rabbaniya."
On the path of renunciation and experiencing the divine presence, it is important to become aware of God's presence. This path is the perfect reflection of perfection. It is the path of sanctification of one's being through constant struggle against one's own lower instinctual soul, the ego. It begins with the attraction and embrace of complete divine love, which was once granted to the Prophet's (sav) first friend, Abu Bakr (ra).
His knowledge and wisdom have been passed down through the centuries by an unbroken chain of 40 Grand Sheikhs to the present day and are alive today in Grand Sheikh Nazım al-Haqqani.
Over the past few decades, Sheikh Nazım Efendi has become one of the most important spiritual leaders of our time due to his sincerity. His influence is constantly growing both in the West and in traditionally Muslim areas.
He is the 40th sheikh of the Naqshbandiya, a Sufi order that began with the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. According to Sufi belief, the Prophet received divine knowledge, which he passed on—from heart to heart—to his spiritual successors.
